Be sure that your new lanai, pool cage, patio or sunroom is well-designed. Since most lanais and pool cages are built in warm areas, they can be subjected to severe storm weather in the form of hurricanes or tornados.

To my knowledge, a hurricane-proof or tornado-proof screen pool cage has not yet been designed. Some materials and designs must be stronger than others, though. So go over this area in detail with your prospective lanai, patio or pool cage builder.

There are probably a wide range of standard lanai designs that lanai builders use so I seriously doubt that you will need a lanai architect.
